Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, the Republican vice-presidential nominee, has been found by an Alaskan legislative panel to have abused her power in having her brother-in-law fired from his position as a state trooper.

The news can be expected to negatively impact the Republican chances in the November American general  election, which are already faltering.

For more, here is the Huffington Post story, a BBC News story written in Q&A style, and a post on the subject by the popular Alaska Mudflats blog, which covers much of issues regarding Palin.

Here’s the link. The Saturday Night Live Biden-Palin debate spoof isn’t on Youtube yet as of this writing, but it is on the Huffington Post, where this link takes you. Enjoy.

Is nothing sacred?

You’ve seen Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin, in glasses, now Hugh Hefner, owner of Playboy, wants the Alaska governor to take them off. And while she’s at it, every article of clothing, all for the camera.

Reportedly, it’s only if she loses the election, give the man some credit.

Only in America.

(Thanks to Bourque for the heads-up and the link.)

Padding her resume before the presidential election in the United States, Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin can now say she has met with heads of state- several in fact- as she speed-dated her way through quickie discussions with Afghan president Hamid Karzi, Columbian president Alviro Uribe, Pakistani president Asif Ali Zardari and the president of Iraq, Jalal Talabani. Palin also met for 90 minutes with Dr. Henry KIssinger, who served as Secretary of State for the late president, Richard Nixon.

In a widely-watched television interview-much of it conducted more like a quiz- with Charles Gibson of ABC, Palin admitted to never having met a head of state.

Palin met the heads of state in New York as they gathered for the United Nations General Assembly. Link here to Newsday article.

American President George Bush addressed the UN assembly. There are a few versions of that story, of course. Here is the Toronto Star story.

Oh, what the heck. Link here to some political cartoons.

Just when I make a point saying voting for ordinary folks seems to be what people want, I find an article (American article) that says voting for ordinary people as your only criteria is just plain dumb.

Written  by a screenwriter named Micheal Seitzman, it is really a perfect blog post in that it is a hard-hitting personal attack, is holier than thou, takes liberties with proper English, uses one-word CAPITAL letters, and includes a pinch of teaser sex. Good enough to make HuffPo, here’s the link to Sarah Palin Naked, a commentary on her  interview with American Broadcasting Corporation’s Charles Gibson. The Palin performance appears to have scared the living beJeezuz out of Seitzman.

This brand new blog started August 28 with a few stories. The blog gained a few hits, two, then ten, then four.

Then I wrote about Sarah Palin after she was appointed John McCain’s running mate for the Republican ticket. Woo. Aardvarkcola suddenly soared with readership, 190 hits on September 4, then six shy of 300 hits the following day, then 266 and down to 186 on September 7, and 190 hits again September 8.

Those few Palin stories are still carrying the blog. I haven’t written anything about her in days. My posts on Canadian soldiers in battle, our own general election, and the like, get a few hits, but those few Palin stories with their links drove my hit counter crazy, and still are.

I’m interpreting this as meaning the American public has been given Governor Palin out of the blue as a possible vice-president and they are hungry for information, any information, on her, even from a new blogger in Western Canada. That’s hungry.

For those of you searching for Palin news and information that you’d never get from mainstream sources, see the Alaskan blog “Mudflats”. The link to it is in my blogroll at right. Drive his hit counter crazy. He actually lives there, is following the story, and any new information is likely to be there. You’re welcome.

Thank you for reading Aardvarkcola

Sarah Palin has impressed greatly with a I’m-one-of-you style that didn’t, apparently, impress Huffington Post celeb-columnist Jamie Lee Curtis.

In not a bad column at all, the actress explains why, to her, being able to relate well to the average person isn’t as important as, well, not relating. Here’s the link. A good read.
